205 Brent Geese (The majority of the brents were off the North End, plus groups south-west of Middle Eye) - Hilbre.
4 Hen Harrier early morning  (2ad males, 1 ad f and juv f), 6-7 Marsh Harrier around, 3 Great Egret, 4 Brambling, 2 Merlin and small number redwing and fieldfare - early morning at Parkgate, 1 Bittern off Old Baths late afternoon.
160 Chaffinch, 12 Brambling, 30 Greenfinch, 16 Siskins, 20 Skylarks, 24 Reed Buntings, 6 Redwing, 1 Fieldfare - early morning over Leasowe Lighthouse.

6 Whooper Swan flying east over Leasowe Lighthouse at 0830am, also 1 Water Rail on River Birket by Lingham bridge.
1 Water Rail - Gilroy, West Kirby.
3 Eider (1 male & 2 fem) flew east past Hoylake before high tide.
1 Water Pipit - Burton Mere Wetlands.
2 Hen Harrier (grey male and ringtail) close to Denhall Quay late afternoon.

3 Spoonbill, 1 Water Pipit, 1 Jack Snipe, 1 Curlew Sandpiper and 640 Pintail - highlights from Burton Mere Wetlands.
3 Whooper Swan on Boathouse Flash this evening, 5 Marsh Harrier, 1 Barn Owl, Hen Harriers included 1 ad m, 1 ad f, 1 juv f and at least 2 juv m making 5 plus a very rusty coloured juv m at Burton Mere Wetlands so SIX in total! - Parkgate.
4 Stonechat - Burton Point.
525 Cormorant flew out of the estuary past Hilbre early morning.

1 Yellowhammer (a rare bird here these days), 4 Siskin, 1 Brambling, 3 Redwing, 20 Skylark, 10 Reed Bunting, 110 Chaffinch and 50 Greenfinch overhead at Leasowe Lighthouse this morning.
1,170 Chaffinch, 33 Brambling, 1,280 Starling, 100 Goldfinch, 135 Greenfinch, 14 Linnet, 1 Swallow, 43 Wood Pigeon, 72 Sky Lark, 4 Redwing, 26 Fielfare, 6 Mistle Thrush, 43 Jackdaw and 1 Grey Wagtail flew south over Red Rocks this morning.
1 Great Egret, 1 Marsh Harrier and 1 Hen Harrier - Heswall Marsh.
1 Red Kite over marsh at 1pm, also 4 Marsh Harrier, 1 Ringtail Hen Harrier, 1 Peregrine and 1 Green Sandpiper - Decca Pools.

98 Great Crested Grebe and 2,500+ Common Scoter off Meols after high tide, 1 Greenshank by groyne.
As well as a few hundred Chaffinches there were 6 Brambling, 9 Siskin, 41 Fieldfare, 5 Mistle Thrushe, 2 Rock Pipit, 1 Grey Wagtail and 42 Skylark over Red Rocks this morning.
5 Brambling, 7 Siskin and 3 Redpoll  over  Leasowe Lighthouse this morning.

1 Peregrine, 83 Wigeon and 4 Pintail - Hilbre at first light.
340 Curlew - south of Little Eye/Tanskey Rocks.
2 Hen Harrier, 1 Marsh Harrier and 1 Green Sandpiper between Decca Pools and Neston Old Quay.
2 Hen Harrier (ringtails) came into roost at Parkgate, plus 1 Raven over.
2 Cattle Egret, 1 Curlew Sandpiper, 1 Hen Harrier, 1 Peregrine and 1 Kingfisher - Burton Mere Wetlands.

Oct 18
Another good visible migration this morning included 1 Ring Ouzel, 80 Chaffinch, 7 Brambling, 9 Siskin, 60 Meadow Pipit, 52 Skylark, 40+ Fieldfare and 2 Tree Sparrow -  Red Rocks.
2 Marsh Harrier and 1 Hen Harrier together over Lingham Lane by Leasowe Lighthouse this morning.
1 Little Stint which narrowly escaped a Marsh Harrier, also 1 Hen harrier, 1 Merlin, 2 Cattle Egret and 1 Curlew Sandpiper - Burton Mere Wetlands.
Visible migration over Thurstaston Hill this morning included 84 Redwing and 220 Wood Pigeon, also 3 Ravens and 140 Pink-footed Geese over - Thurstaston Hill.
13 Marsh Harriers came into the Neston Reed Bed roost this evening, appeared to be 11 juveniles and 2 second calendar year males.

Oct 17
1 Chough showing well around Dee Sailing Club and beach below, Thurstaston.
1 Yellow-browed Warbler moving south, 1 Swift over plus 605 Chaffinch, 2 Brambling, 5 Siskin, 3 Tree Sparow, 45 Skylark, 23 Mistle Thrush and 51 Fieldfare, - Red Rocks.
1 Spoonbill, 1 Little Stint, 2 Curkew Sandpiper and 2 Cattle Egret - Burton Mere Wetlands.
Several flocks of Fieldfares reported including 50 over Heswall and 70 over Caldy.

Oct 16
1 Chough photographed on boulders on shore around 10am then from noon onwards either in flight, on the golf course or on the boulders at the bottom of the cliff, between Caldy steps and Dee SC.
1 Short-eared Owl near Leasowe Lighthouse.
1 Hen Harrier this morning, 2 Marsh Harrier at lunch time and 1 Spoonbill over late afternoon - Parkgate.
2 Cattle Egret, 1 Curlew Sandpiper, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Hen Harrier and 2,500+ Pink-footed Geese - Burton Mere Wetlands.

Oct 15
c3,000 Pink-footed Geese over Moreton this morning headed towards the Dee Estuary.
Large movement of Pink-footed Geese flying over Royden Park and Thurstaston Hill towards the Dee estuary from first light to 9am, initial movement was 3,450 strong followed by several small flocks - total 4,410.
2 Yellow-browed Warbler, in Alders together and moving south, also probably a third bird earlier - Red Rocks.
1 Yellow-browed Warbler - Cubbins Green, West Kirby.
1 Water Pipit from Marsh Covert hide, Burton Mere Wetlands.
1 Yellow-browed Warbler - Hilbre.

4 Stonechat (2 pairs) south of Denhall Quay, also 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) and 1 Merlin.

Several reports of hundreds of Pink-footed Geese moving over north Wirral towards the Dee estuary, wonderful sight and sound on this lovely morning.
An estimated 2,000+ Common Scoter off Meols just before high tide (almost impossible to do an accurate count with heat haze and sea running).
3,920 Black-tailed Godwit - Caldy Wildfowl Collection (off A540), West Kirby.
1 Short-eared Owl over Royal Liverpool GC, Hoylake, this evening.

Sep 27
1 Marsh Harrier flew south down west side and 1 Great Egret - Hilbre.
5 Guillemot off Leasowe Lighthouse.
3 Spoonbill, 310 Shoveler (record high for site), 1 Garganey and 9 Mandarin duck - Burton Mere Wetlands.
Several reports of small flocks of Pink-footed Geese moving over north Wirral towards the Dee estuary.

Sep 26
2 Wheatear on groyne - Meols Common.
1 Guillemot stranded on West Kirby beach, picked up then flew to the Marine Lake where it seemed to be doing OK.

2 Lesser Spotted Woodpecker flew over Old Baths car park and later were chased by a Great Spotted Woodpecker, also 2 Great Egret, 2 ringtail Hen Harrier, 3 Marsh Harrier and 1 Merlin and some distant flocks of Pinkfeet -  Parkgate this morning, 1 Short-eared Owl, 3 Merlin and 3 Hen Harrier this evening.

1 Roseate Tern late afternoon (good views, bird still had full cap), 1 Great Northern Diver flew high out of Mersey at 9.15am, 1 Long-tailed Skua in Mersey mouth at 8.15am, also 1 Sabine's Gull (juv), 8+ Leach's Petrel, 2 Grey Phalarope (1 landed on beach right in front of observer) with 2 Grey Phalarope this evening over Mersey,  2 Little Gull, 3 Arctic Tern and 1 Black Tern - New Brighton.
1 Long-tailed Skua (juv) flew west and into estuary, 4 Leach's Petrel, 1 probable Great Northern Diver, 1 Grey Phalarope, 47 Golden Plover and 1 Ruff this morning, several Leach's Petrel over East Hoyle Bank this evening not making much progress against the wind - Hoylake.

4 Spoonbill, 2 LIttle Ringed Plover, 1 Cattle Egret, 3 Great Egret, 1 Cetti's Warbler and 1 imm Marsh Harrier - highlights from Burton Mere Wetlands.

Sep 7
1 Leach's Petrel and 1 Velvet Scoter over high tide, 1 Eider, 3 Red-throated Diver and 1 juv Shag at first light- Hilbre.
1 Cattle Egret, 3 Great Egret and 1 Hen Harrier - Burton Mere Wetlands.
2 Great Skuas, 1 Arctic Tern and a few Kittiwakes - New Brighton around high tide.
4+ Marsh Harrier came into roost, 1 Hen Harrier (ad fem), 1 Merlin, 2 Peregrine, 1 Barn Owl showing well and 3 Greenshank - Parkgate.

Sep 6
1 Pallid Harrier (juv) - Parkgate Old Baths, early morning, then at several locations through the day.
1 Eider, 1 Peregrine, 494 Curlew, 9,000 Oystercatcher, 84 Lesser Black-backed Gull and 900 Black-headed Gull - Hilbre on rising tide this morning.
1 Hen Harrier (fem), note two imm males have been recorded last few days so that makes 3 on the estuary - Burton Marsh, 1 Pallid Harrier present this evening.
1 Garganey (imm) with 7 Teal and 1 fem Pintail on duck pond - Gilroy, West Kirby at 4pm, Garganey couldn't be seen at 6pm and may have flown off.

Sep 5
1 Pallid Harrier (juv) - Parkgate Old Baths, Burton Marsh and Burton Mere Wetlands!!
2 Spotted Crake showing on 'Rocky Pool', present for several days - Shotton Steelworks.
1 Tree Pipit south over, and 1 Spotted Flycatcher along Lingham Lane - Leasowe Lighthouse.
1 Osprey observed flying south down Dee Estuary from Red Rocks, also 2 Spotted Flycatcher and 1 Cetti's Warbler.
5,800 Black-tailed Godwit - Caldy Wildfowl Collection (off A540), West Kirby.
1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) and 3 Marsh Harrier - Burton Point, with 1 Cetti's Warbler at Cop Hole.
As well as the Pallid Harrier there were 1 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Greenshank, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Hen Harrier, 1 Marsh Harrier, 15 Common Buzzard, 145 Shoveler and 1 Willow Tit (by the railway bridge) - Burton Mere Wetlands.
At least 6 (possibly as many as 12) Marsh Harrier came into roost at Parkgate.

Sep 4
1 Pallid Harrier (juv) seen well at both Parkgate Old Baths and Burton Marsh, at Parkgate at 1440hrs.
2 Hen Harrier (juvs), 3 Marsh Harrier, 2 Merlin and 1 Hobby - Parkgate Old Baths.
1 Osprey over Pensby flew towards Dee estuary.
3 Spoonbill - Burton Mere Wetlands.
11 Wigeon, 3000 Oystercatcher, 1 Greenshank, 4600 Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Wheatear, 4 Grey Wagtail flew south - Thurstaston Shore.
2 Hobby (by western kissing gate), 20 Wheatear, 1 Greenshank and 2 Spotted Flycatcher - Leasowe Lighthouse/Meols Common.
16 Wheatear, 120 House Martins in a single flock, 1 Greenshank, 1 Snipe, 1 Eider, 1 Raven and 1 Peregrine - Hilbre this morning.

Sep 3
1 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Green Sandpiper, 1 Greenshank, 1 Hobby, 1 Marsh Harrier and 1 Great Egret - Burton Mere Wetlands.
1 Barn Owl hunting off Heswall Golf Course this evening.
1 Hobby over Caldy Hill.
1 Hen Harrier flushed a Green Sandpiper at Burton Point, 1 Hobby and 1 Whinchat by the Rifle Range - Burton Marsh.

Sep 2
1 Garganey on Bridge Pool - Burton Mere Wetlands.
1 Wheatear - Leasowe Bay.
2 Hen Harrier (ringtails) - Parkgate Old Baths.
1 Garganey flew into Rifle Range Pool and 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) - Burton Marsh.

Sep 1
1 Osprey at main scrape, 1 Yellow Wagtail flew south, 1 Common Sandpiper and 1 Cattle Egret - Burton Mere Wetlands.
2 Peregrine hunting on shoreline, 5 Goosander (redheads) flew west and 780 Sandwich Tern, 2 Wheatear on Middle Eye - Hilbre.
1 Great Egret and 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail), also 9 Pink-footed Geese flying W - Neston Old Quay.
1 Lesser Whitethroat, 10+ Blackcap and 3 Sparrowhawk - Heswall Fields NT this morning.
1 Hen Harrier (ringtail), at least 2 Marsh Harrier and 4 Greenshank - Parkgate around 2pm.
