1 Osprey over Greenfield Valley this morning, flying SE.
6 Wheatear, 100 + Gannet, 3 Manx Shearwater, 3 Guillemot, 3 Arctic Skua, 150 Sandwich Tern and 70 Common Tern - Hilbre.
5 Manx Shearwater and 5+ Arctic Skua - Hoylake Shore.

150 Shoveler, 3 Spotted Redshank, 1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Peregrine and 1,210 Black-tailed Godwit - Burton Mere Wetlands.

1 Spotted Redshank, 1 Marsh Harrier and at least 1,000 Black-tailed Godwit - Burton Mere Wetlands.
3 Curlew Sandpiper - Hoylake Shore.

Aug 27
2 Peregrine on beach with kill, 1 Arctic Skua, 1 Arctic Tern, 30 Common Tern, 67 Sandwich Tern, 235 Grey Plover, 54 Bar-tailed Godwit, 1 Whimbrel, 3 Wheatear and 1 Whinchat, 300+ Swallow came in off the sea - Leasowe Lighthouse.

Aug 26
8 Greenshank -Parkgate Marsh, far flash from Bevyl Road.
2 Spotted Flycatcher (near duck pond), 1 Arctic Skua off shore, 1 Greenshank in gutter, 2 Wheatear, 20 Chiffchaff, 8 Willow Warbler and 1 Reed Warbler feeding young - Leasowe Lighthouse.
1 possible Green Winged Teal (from IMF hide), 5 Spotted Redshank, 1 Garganey, 1 Marsh Harrier and 1 Hobby - Burton Mere Wetlands, also 1,100 Black-tailed Godwit at IMF.
1 Storm Petrel, 2 Great Skua, c180 Manx Shearwater, 50+ Gannet, 14 Kittiwake and 23 Fulmar seen from yacht about 3.5 miles off north Wirral, early morning.
1 probable Long-tailed Skua seen off Derby Pool and dropped onto Crosby Beach - Wallasey Shore at 8.30am.
1 Whinchat, 2 Marsh Harrier and 3+ Raven - Burton Point.
1 possible Honey Buzzard flew west over Saughall this afternoon.

Aug 25
1 Pectoral Sandpiper, 1 Green Sandpiper, 10 Spotted Redshank and 1+ Garganey - Burton Mere Wetlands.
2 Greenshank - Parkgate Marsh.
1 Great White Egret off Burton Point, also 2 Whinchat and 4 Wheatear.
1000+ Black-tailed Godwit, 4 Ruff (juv) and 6 Spotted Redshank - Inner Marsh Farm hide.

Aug 24
2 Marsh Harrier, 1 Merlin, 1 Peregrine (juv), 5 Ruff and 5 Spotted Redshank - Burton Mere Wetlands.
2 Raven over Gilroy NP, West Kirby, 1 also seen over Newton heading towards Caldy.
1 Arctic Skua - Hoylake Shore, chased a gull then landed on shore by Red Rocks.
2 Greenshank in front of hide, 3 Garganey on border pool - Inner Marsh Farm hide.
6 Whinchat on fence, 1 Marsh Harrier and 1 Hobby - Denhall Lane, Burton Marsh.
c30 Swift - over Hoylake Langfields by railway line.

Aug 23
3 Garganey, 2 Marsh Harrier, 3 Yellow wagtail (juvs) and 1 Spotted Redshank - Burton Mere Wetlands.
1 Curlew Sandpiper (ad in moult) - Hoylake Shore.

Aug 22
1 Red Kite flew over Neston towards Willaston at 7am.
2 Ruff (juv), 24 Teal and 2 Shoveler- Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby.

Aug 21
2 Ruff (juv) - Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby.
2 Arctic Skua - Red Rocks.
4 Garganey (seen this evening from Marsh Covert hide), 2 Marsh Harrier, 1 Peregrine, 2 Little Ringed Plover, 9 Spotted Redshank, 1 Greenshank and 12 Ruff - Burton Mere Wetlands.
1 Great White Egret flew south of Middle Eye then across to Wales - Hilbre.
1 Spoonbill - Neston Old Quay.

Aug 20
1 Aquatic Warbler seen, heard and photographed - Red Rocks this morning but still VERY elusive, was seen at south end of reedbed then moved towards north end, also 1 Tree Pipit and 30 Willow Warbler.
5,200 Herring Gull, 71 Greater Black-backed Gull, 1,000 Black-headed Gull and 450 Lesser Black-backed Gull, much fewer terns and waders today - Hoylake Shore at high tide.
29 Little Egret, 1 Marsh Harrier, 2 Greenshank, 2,200 Curlew, 4,500 Shelduck and 6,800 Redshank - Heswall Shore on rising tide.
1 Garganey (fem - not the ringed teal!), 2 Marsh Harrier and 1 Spotted Redshank - Burton Mere Wetlands, report of possible 3 Garganey here yesterday.

Aug 19
200 Arctic Tern, 1,000 Sandwich Tern, 1,000 Common Tern, 1 Mediterranean Gull, 6,000 Black-headed Gull, 4,500 Dunlin, 1,000 Ringed Plover, 107 Sanderling,  2 Curlew Sandpiper, 1 Little Stint and 22 Little Tern - Hoylake Shore at high tide.
1 Aquatic Warbler - Red Rocks, this morning, seen on golf course then flew into reeds where it is very elusive, also 60+ Willow Warbler in the reedbed.
3 Wheatear and 1 Greenshank, 1 Peregrine eating prey on the sand - Leasowe Lighthouse.
1 Green Sandpiper, 1 Greenshank and 2 Marsh Harrier - Burton Mere Wetlands.

9 Manx Shearwater, 6 Arctic Skua, 4 Black Tern and 1 Pied Flycatcher - Hilbre.
700 Ringed Plover with many Dunlin, 534 Sandwich Tern, 39 Common Tern, 11 Arctic Tern and 9 Little Tern plus c9,000 mixed gull flock - West Kirby Shore at high tide.

3 Arctic Skua off north Wirral seen from Mersey Ferry Birding Cruise.
1 Balearic Shearwater and 7 Black Tern - Hilbre.
2 Little Ringed Plover and 2 Knot (rare here) - Burton Mere Wetlands.
1 Hen Harrier (ringtail), 1 Marsh Harrier and 1 Raven - Parkgate.
4 Arctic Skua, 4 Common Scoter, 4 Manx Shearwater, 20 Little Tern, c 250 Common Tern and c250 Sandwich Tern - Red Rocks just before high tide, 3 Black Tern on sand bank east of Bird Rock after high tide.
1 probable Honey Buzzard flew out to sea from Hoylake shortly after high tide, bird was gaining height in poor visibilty so can't confirm ID.
7 Greenshank, 6 Spotted Redshank, 2 Common Sandpiper and 435 Black-tailed Godwit - Inner Marsh Farm hide.

Aug 14
1 Marsh Harrier (juv with wing tags) - Burton Marsh.
Large fall of Willow Wabler, c700 with 165 ringed including a lovely pale yellow leucistic bird - Hilbre, for more details see http://www.hilbrebirdobs.blogspot.com/.
3 Arctic Skua (2 juv), 11 Black Tern, c200 Sandwich Tern, 100 Common Tern, 10+ Arctic Tern, 15+ Little Tern, 20 Grey Plover, 2 Golden Plover and 200+ Sanderling on shore this morning between Red Rocks and Hilbre.
c1,500 Black-headed Gull, 600 Common Gull and 100 Herring Gull anting over Hoylake Langfields, Grange Hill and Caldy Hill at 5pm.
1 Corncrake, 1 Whinchat, 2 Wheatear and 1 Tree Pipit, plus 200 or so Willow Warbler in the general Hoylake area through the day - Red Rocks, Corncrake flushed by dog.

1 Marsh Harrier (juv) with green ring tags, if anybody is able to read the letters on these please let me or the RSPB at BMW know - Burton Marsh.

1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Peregrine, 3 Spotted Redshank, 1 Greenshank and 250 Black-tailed Godwit - Burton Mere Wetlands.
1 Wheatear on the sea defence, 2 Arctic Skua and c25 Gannet out to sea, 450 Sandwich Tern and 820 Common Tern on shore at high tide - Red Rocks, Common Tern count highest for several years.
1 Raven (over), 1 Wheatear, 2 Green Sandpiper, 1 Whimbrel and 4 Grasshopper Warbler heard calling from four territories, along path between Station Road and Burton Point.
28 Gannet, 860 Dunlin, 800 Sandwich Tern, 500 Common Tern, 80 Ringed Plover, 2 Wheatear and 1 Eider (fem) - Hilbre.

Aug 4
500+ Sandwich Tern, 250+ Common Tern, 12 Arctic Tern and 72 Little Tern on East Hoyle Bank off Hilbre two hours before high tide.
14+ Arctic Tern, 830 Sandwich Tern, 570 Common Tern, 6 Arctic Tern, 3 Little Tern, 42 Ringed Plover and 300 Dunlin - Hoylake Shore as tide came in.
2 Wheatear and 7 Common Buzzard over Larton Livery, Frankby.
1 Marsh Harrier - Inner Marsh Farm hide.
1 Little Stint - Parkgate.
2 Black Tern - Leasowe Gunsite.

Aug 3
45 Little Tern on beach, 70 Gannet and 1 Arctic Skua off shore - Red Rocks.
1 Curlew Sandpiper (ad with fading s/pl), 2 Mediterranean Gull (1st sum and ad), 3 Arctic Tern, 12 Little Tern, 220 Common Tern and 760 Sandwich Tern - Hoylake Shore at high tide.
2 Greenshank, 6 Whimbrel, 2 Turnstone and 1 Raven - Heswall Shore before high tide.
1 Arctic Tern and 1 Greenshank on groyne, 2 Arctic Skua off shore - Leasowe Lighthouse.
1 Fulmar - Hilbre.

Aug 2
2 Marsh Harrier and 3 Greenshank, c30 Yellow Wagtail seen by warden working on drainage ditches - Burton Mere Wetlands.
75 Little Tern on the beach before high tide, at least 5 Arctic Skua and c50 Gannet off shore - Red Rocks.
18 Little Tern flying, 690 Sandwich Tern and 230 Common Tern on the shore, also 1 Mediterranean Gull, 38 Common Scoter and 50+ Great Crested Grebe - Hoylake Shore at high tide, brief view of two Cetaceans, probably Porpoises.
11 Whimbrel - Hilbre.

Aug 1
5 Spotted Redshank, 4 Spotted Flycatcher and 1 Marsh Harrier (juv) - Burton Mere Wetlands.
1 Yellow Wagtail and 1 Wheatear on the rocks, 84 Gannet and c400 terns offshore, 490 Sandwich Tern, 164 Common Tern and 7 Little Tern on the beach, highlight was 4 Bottlenose Dolphins off the point for about 20 minutes with 30 Gannets overhead - Red Rocks at high tide.
1 Arctic Tern, 10 Bar-tailed Godwit (4 'red' birds), 7 Knot (4 'red' birds), 20 Grey Plover (15 in s/pl), 140 Sanderling, 500 Dunlin and 60 Ringed Plover - Hoylake Shore at high tide.
22 Bottlenosed Dolphins off Hilbre at high tide, also 60 Little Tern.

July 31
1 Mediterranean Gull (ad), 1 Greenshank, 3 Whimbrel, 4 Common Sandpiper and 32 Grey Plover - Heswall Shore before high tide. 
1 Marsh Harrier - Burton Mere Wetlands.
1 Hobby - Parkgate Marsh.
2 Mediterranean Gull - Hilbre.

July 30
2 Arctic Skua, 3 Manx Shearwater and c50 Gannet - Hoylake Shore after high tide.
c200 Gannet, c10 Arctic Skua and 1 Whimbrel, also small numbers of Bar-tailed Godwit, Knot and Grey Plover still in summer plumage - Red Rocks around high tide.

July 29
1 Mediterranean Gull, 1 Common Sandpiper and 250 Black-tailed Godwit - Oakenholt Marsh.
1 Spotted Redshank (s/pl) and 6 Greenshank - Connah's Quay Reserve.
55 Manx Shearwater and 8 Arctic Skua - Hilbre.

July 28
7 Greenshank - Bevyl Road Flash, Parkgate Marsh, also 2 Raven over.
1 Greenshank, 2 Whimbrel and 2 Mediterranean Gull, 1 Redpoll over - Heswall Shore at high tide this morning.
1 Hobby (briefly), 4 Spotted Redshank, 500 Black-tailed Godwit and 1 Spotted Flycatcher - Burton Mere Wetlands.
1 Mediterranean Gull (1st win) - West Kirby Marine Lake.
1 Greenshank - Leasowe Lighthouse.
4 Manx Shearwater and 40 Gannet off Red Rocks at 7pm.
74 Manx Shearwater and 150 Gannet - Hilbre.

July 27
1 Mediterranean Gull and 13 Greenshank - Connah's Quay Reserve.
2 Peregrine sitting on the sand, 3 Arctic Skua with 25 Gannet and c300 mixed terns off Red Rocks at high tide.
1 Marsh Harrier (fem) flying north - Parkgate Marsh.
1,000+ Sandwich Tern - Hilbre.

July 26
1 Hoopoe on seawall between Meols and Leasowe Lighthouse at 1.30pm before flying inland into fields the inland side of Park Lane.
1 Marsh Harrier, 2 Arctic Skua, 7 Whimbrel, 5 Common Scoter, 590 Sandwhich Tern (c25% juveniles), 80 Common Tern and 25 Gannet with 15 feeding just off the north end at high tide - Hilbre.
1 Wheatear - Grange Cemetery, West Kirby.
1 Spotted Flycatcher - Denhall Lane, Burton Marsh.
26 Willow Warbler - Hilbre.

July 25
2 Raven flew west over Parkgate Marsh, this morning.
8 Spotted Flycatcher (incl 6 young) and 5 Common Tern (adults) - Burton Mere Wetlands, 3 fledged Common Tern young yesterday evening.
2 Green Sandpiper - rifle range pools Burton Marsh.
1 Arctic Skua (pale phase - flew over shore and Little Eye), c15 Gannet, 120 Common Tern and c750 Sandwich Tern - Red Rocks at high tide.
1 Greenshank, 5 Mediterranean Gull (4 ad and 1 1st sum), 3,000 Black-headed Gull, 14 Whimbrel, 1 Peregrine and 1 Raven - Heswall Shore before high tide.
200+ Gannet on sea offshore from Leasowe Castle.
1 Fulmar and 3 Arctic Skua - Hilbre.

July 24
Huge numbers of gulls feeding on insects over Flint and surrounding area at 10am, probably as many as 50,000 mostly Black-headed Gulls.
1 Osprey over West Kirby heading south-west this afternoon.

July 23
1 Mediterranean Gull - Donkey Stand Flash, Parkgate.
820 Sandwich Tern and 120 Common Tern between West Kirby and Red Rocks an hour before high tide, 1 Arctic Skua offshore.
Very close views of Hobby chasing dragonflies in front of Reception Hide, also 1 Greenshank, 6 Spotted Flycatcher (4 young) and 1 Redstart (juv)  - Burton Mere Wetlands.
3 adult Mediterranean Gull, 7 Whimbrel and 19 Little Egret - Heswall Shore before high tide.

1 Mediterranean Gull (ad win plumage) - Wallasey Shore.
2 Whimbrel - Neston Marsh.
1 Kingfisher, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Spotted Redshank, 500 Black-tailed Godwit, 5 Common Tern (1 juv) and 1 Peregrine - Burton Mere Wetlands.
1 Goosander (male) - Hilbre.

July 21
8 Whimbrel over West Kirby early morning, heading towards shore.
1 Greenshank on Groyne, 1 Golden Plover in horse paddock and 2 Peregrine on the sand bank - Leasowe Lighthouse.
c400 Sandwich Tern and 30 Common Tern on shore before high tide,  5 Arctic Skua, 12+ Whimbrel and 24 Sanderling, 5 Gannet close in after high tide - Red Rocks.
1 Raven circling and calling before flying towards Wales - Parkgate.

July 20
1 Greenshank heard calling by Bevyl Road Flash, Parkgate.
760 Sandwich Tern (30%+ juvs), 55 Common Tern and 70 Sanderling on sand bank between Red Rocks and West Kirby as tide came in.
1 Arctic Skua and c30 Gannet - Hoylake Shore at high tide, distant and difficult to see in heat haze.
1 Yellow Wagtail - Red Rocks.
4 Arctic Skua, 5 Whimbrel and 760 Sandwich Tern - Hilbre.

July 18
4 Spotted Flycatcher (1 ad feeding 3 young) and 2 Little Grebe - Burton Mere Wetlands.
1 Marsh Harrier (fem) and 1 Great White Egret - Burton Marsh.

July 17
1 Great White Egret - Parkgate, flew towards Gayton.
1 Whinchat (juv), 4 Common Sandpiper, 3 Sanderling (rare here), 150 Black-tailed Godwit and 2 Peregrine - Connah's Quay Reserve.

July 16
1 Green Sandpiper, 2 Spotted Redshank and 2 Greenshank - Burton Mere Wetlands.

4 Spotted Redshank difficult to see in long grass - Bevyl Road Flash, Parkgate, also an unusually pale Grey Heron which could be mistaken for a Great White Egret.

1 Pectoral Sandpiper seen this evening, also 1 Peregrine, 1 Cuckoo and 1 Green Sandpiper - Burton Mere Wetlands.
120 Sandwich Tern roosting on East Hoyle Bank, c100 Sandwich Tern and c100 Common Tern off the north end at 1pm - Hilbre, very few Gannets today.
1 Short-eared Owl, 1 Peregrine, 8 Raven, 400 Curlew, 6 Whimbrel, 150 Black-tailed Godwit and 1 Little Ringed Plover - Outer Burton Marsh (Clwyd).

July 8
119 Gannet off shore, 2 Common Sandpiper on the groyne - Leasowe Lighthouse, early morning.
1 Merlin flying north close to path at Denhall Lane, Burton Marsh, early morning.
6 Common Sandpiper mouth of Wepre Brook, Connah's Quay.

1 Cuckoo (ad), 2 Grasshopper Warbler (reeling), 3 Greenshank, 3 Spotted Redshank (s/pl), 1 Green Sandpiper, 1 Ruff (male), c350 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Peregrine and 4 Raven - Burton Mere Wetlands.
