138 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Common Sandpiper and 1 late Swift - flooded field next to Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby.
1 Leach's Petrel - Hilbre.

August 28:
21 Greenshank - Boathouse Flash, Parkgate.
1 Arctic Skua and 1 Pomarine Skua (ad with spoons) in the R Mersey - New Brighton, 1 Kittiwake (juv) over model boating lake.
400 Grey Plover and 200 Knot (both species mainly in summer plumage) - Meols Shore.
150+ Sandwich Tern, 100+ 'Commic' Tern, 75+ Little Tern, 1 Arctic Skua, 1 Fulmar, 2 Kittiwake and 7 Common Scoter - Point of Ayr.

August 27:
1 Red Kite reported near A540 by Burton traffic lights.
2 Garganey (juv), 1 Peregrine, 2 Hobby and 5 Ruff - Inner Marsh Farm.
2 Spotted Flycatcher, 5 Wheatear, 1 Green Woodpecker (juv), 1 Peregrine and 1 Kingfisher - Leasowe Lighthouse.
2 Raven, 3 Wheatear and 38 Little Egret - Heswall Shore.

August 26:
460 Manx Shearwater and 64 Gannet - Red Rocks, feeding flocks just off Red Rocks today at high tide - fantastic!
420 Ringed Plover, 80 Sanderling, 254 Grey Plover most in breeding plumage, 400 Knot and 10,400 Dunlin - Hoylake Shore at high tide, an exceptionally high count of Dunlin for August.
83 Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Common Sandpiper and 2 Whimbrel - flooded field next to Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby.
2 Marsh Harrier being chased by crows this morning - Parkgate Marsh, 1 Marsh Harrier (fem), 1 Hen Harrier (ring tail) and 3 Barn owl this evening.
1 Garganey (juv) - Inner Marsh Farm.
2 Whimbrel - Meols Shore.

August 25:
176 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Common Sandpiper and 2 Knot in flooded field opposite Gilroy Nature Park.
6,000 Oystercatcher - West Kirby Shore.
500+ Manx Shearwater and 50+ Gannet - Red Rocks, the manxies were in the same place as yesterday - between the new Rhyl Flats windfarm and West Hoyle windfarm as viewed from Red Rocks, swirling around and feeding continuously; the 500 were counted when they all lifted above the horizon for a few minutes, views from Point of Ayr must have been fantastic!
1 Wood Sandpiper - pool opposite Shotton Paper Mill.
1 Hen Harrier - Burton Marsh.

August 24:
1,000 Teal, 1 Marsh Harrier (fem) and 2 Ruff - Inner Marsh Farm, also an escaped Ross's Goose.
1 Mediterranean Gull (2nd year) and 98 Black-tailed Godwit - Gilroy Nature Park.
1 Arctic Skua, 50+ Manx Shearwater, c20 Gannet and 5 Common Scoter - Red Rocks, manxies swirling around on the horizon and difficult to estimate, but see Hilbre entry below.
200+ Manx Shearwater and 1 Black Tern - Hilbre.
1 Mediterranean Gull on beach by Leasowe Lighthouse.

August 23:
1 Marsh Harrier (fem) and 14 Kestrel - Parkgate Marsh early morning.
2 Greenshank, 1 Spotted Redshank, 6,200 Redshank, 2,150 Curlew, 1 Peregrine and 31 Little Egret - Heswall Shore.
250+ Ringed Plover, 11 Sanderling and 3 Grey Plover of which 2 were in immaculate summer plumage and one was in moult - West Kirby Shore during 'Terns and Waders' walk.
20 Manx Shearwater, 8 Gannet and 2 Arctic Skua - Red Rocks.

August 22:
1 juv Yellow Wagtail, 1 Spotted Flycatcher and 8 Chiffchaff - Target Road area of Heswall Shore.
4 Common Buzzard, 3 Kestrel, 1 Peregrine, 2 Wheatear and 4 Whimbrel plus many Redshank and Shelduck - Thurstaston Shore during 'mud matters' walk.

August 21:
1 Spotted Redshank, 1 Greenshank and 31 Little Egret, numbers of waders and shelduck building up fast - Heswall Shore.
150 Sandwich Tern and 35 Common Scoter, Gannets and Manx Shearwaters very distant but about 50 of the former and 100 of the latter in two hours - Red Rocks at high tide, also possible Great Skua.
2 Greenshank, 1 Water Rail, 1 Spoonbill and 1 Wood Sandpiper - Inner Marsh Farm.

August 20:
200+ Gannet, 55 Manx Shearwater and 150+ Sandwich Tern - Red Rocks at high tide.
80 Sanderling, 4,000+ Dunlin and 600+ Ringed Plover - Hoylake Shore.
3 Common Sandpiper, 5 Greenshank and 1 Green Sandpiper - flooded field next to Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby.

August 19:
25 Greenshank - Boathouse Flash, Parkgate.
130 Manx Shearwater, 27 Gannet and 1 Arctic Tern (among c100 mainly Sandwich Terns which flew past) - Red Rocks at high tide, a good number of the Manxies and Gannets flew very close to north end of Hilbre.
210 Sandwich Tern, 930 Herring Gull and 90 Lesser Black-backed Gull - Hoylake Shore at high tide.
2 Common Sandpiper, 97 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Golden Plover, 14 Lapwing, 22 Teal, 11 Shoveler and 1 Peregrine - flooded field next to Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby.
1 Marsh Harrier (juv fem), 1 Peregrine, 1 Spotted Redshank, 1 Greenshank, 1 Common Sandpiper and 1 Whimbrel - Heswall Shore.

August 18:
1 Green Sandpiper, 11 Shoveler, 142 Black-tailed Godwit (127 juv), 62 Lapwing, 16 Teal, 1 juv Hobby and 40 Swift - flooded field next to Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby.
1 Arctic Skua, c30 Manx Shearwater and c50 Gannet off shore, 5,000 Dunlin, 420 Ringed Plover and 110 Sanderling on the beach (West Kirby side) -  Red Rocks at high tide.
4 Greenshank, 45 House Martins and 1 Raven, also a possible Great White Egret which flew south - Burton Marsh, early morning, early morning, 3 Little Ringed Plover this evening.
2 Arctic Skua - Hilbre.

August 17:
3 Gannet way off shore , 2 Common Tern, 2 Little Tern, 1 Sandwich Tern and 14 Turnstone - Leasowe Gunsite.
350+ Gannet, 88 Sandwich Tern, 14 Manx Shearwater and 71 Ringed Plover - Red Rocks at high tide.
107 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Mediterranean Gull (ad) and 14 Shoveler in flooded field next to Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby.
3 Spoonbill, 2 Merlin, 1 Hobby, 1 Raven and 1 Short-eared Owl - Burton Marsh, 61 Little Egret flew over on way to roost.
1 Spotted Redshank, 22 Little Egret, 8 Grey Heron, c2,000 Curlew, c4,000 Oystercatcher, c2,500 Redshank, 1 Peregrine, 1,500 Black-headed  Gull, 1500 Common Gull and 5 Grey Partridge - Heswall/Thurstaston Shore.

August 16:
96 Black-tailed Godwit (incl 85 juv), 13 Teal and 7 Shoveler in flooded field next to Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby, also 7 Chiffchaff in Gilroy itself.
5 Whimbrel - Hoylake Langfields.
2 Arctic Skua which were roosting on the beach then flew off over Hilbre, one was mobbed by a Kestrel, also 4 Manx Shearwater, 1 Whimbrel, 1 Peregrine, 17 Sandwich Tern and 100+ Gannet - Red Rocks at high tide.
110+ Manx Shearwater, 12 Gannet, 400 Sandwich Tern and 3 Little Tern - Hilbre, 1 Greenshank in gutter by Middle Hilbre.
1,200+ Dunlin, 800 Ringed Plover and 100 Sanderling - West Kirby Shore (between marine lake and Little Eye).
1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) and 9 Kestrel - Parkgate Marsh.

August 15:
21 Greenshank - Parkgate Marsh.
2 Marsh Harrier - Neston Marsh, off Moorside Lane.
1 Spotted Redshank - Connah's Quay Reserve.

August 14:
2 Yellow Wagtail (juvs) and 1 Little Ringed Plover, also 120+ House Martin and 75 Swallow moving SW - Decca Pools, Burton Marsh.
1 Marsh Harrier and 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) - Heswall Marsh.
10 Grey Heron - Dove Point.
1 Spoonbill over Little Neston this afternoon flying towards Burton.

August 13:
5 Green Sandpiper, 1 male Wheatear, 4 Stock Dove, 212 Little Egret flying out onto the marsh and 90+ Swallows gathering on the wires at the farm on Denhall Lane - Burton Marsh/Decca Pools.
37 Black-tailed Godwit, 4 Teal , 8 Shoveler and 19 Swift - field next to Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby.
1 Ring-necked Parakeet (male), 5 Wheatear and 2 Tree Pipit - Red Rocks.
1 Marsh Harrier, 3 Green Sandpiper and 6 Ruff - Inner Marsh Farm.
1 Spoonbill - Parkgate Marsh, this evening.

August 12:
2 Marsh Harrier (fem and juv), 1 Wood Sandpiper, 1 Greenshank, 1 Spotted Redshank and 7 Ruff - Inner Marsh Farm.
7 Greenshank - Parkgate Marsh.
2 Wheatear - Wallasey Golf Club.
1 Short-eared Owl, 1 ringtail Hen Harrier (moulting central tail feathers - came to roost in long vegetation behind pools), 3 female Wheatear, 4 Stock Dove, 11 Kestrel and 28 Little Egret (flew over to roost) - Burton Marsh.

August 11:
1 Hen Harrier (ringtail), 8 Shoveler, 1 Golden Plover and 12 Sand Martin - field next to Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby, 4 Common Buzzard and 2 Raven were mobbing the Hen Harrier.
1 Arctic Skua, 2 Whimbrel, 320 Sandwich Tern (incl 120 on West Hoyle Bank) and 2 Wheatear - Hilbre, 60 Little Tern on West Hoyle Bank.
2 Wheatear, 26 Ringed Plover and 1 Mediterranean Gull on embankment by Leasowe Lighthouse.
1 Spoonbill, 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) and 2 Barn Owl  - Parkgate Marsh.
1 Peregrine and 17 Little Egret - Point of Ayr.

August 10:
2 Wood Sandpiper, 1 Green Sandpiper, 5 Ruff and at least 2 Water Rail - Inner Marsh Farm.
1 Merlin - Burton Marsh.
156 Little Tern, 16 Grey Plover (sum/pl), 200 Dunlin and 62 Ringed Plover, many Sandwich Terns but difficult to count between the showers and fresh wind -  West Kirby Shore at high tide.
5 Barn Owl this evening over Boathouse Flash, Parkgate.

August 9:
1 Arctic Skua, 2 Whimbrel over, c10 Gannet, c20 Little Tern, c20 Common Scoter, 1 male Rose-ringed Parakeet, 2 juv Green Woodpecker, 1 Spotted Flycatcher, 8 Willow Warbler, 1 Golden Plover over calling - Red Rocks.
1 Roseate Tern (juv), 5 Arctic Tern, 631 Common Tern, 8 Little Tern, 763 Sandwich Tern, 1,500 Black-headed Gull and 199 Common Tern - West Kirby Shore at high tide.
2 Wood Sandpiper, 2 Green Sandpiper, 5 Ruff, 1 Marsh Harrier (juv fem), 3 Yellow Wagtail and 1 Water Rail - Inner Marsh Farm.
6 Green Sandpiper on lagoons near A548 (Welsh side of Army Firing Range), being chased off by Swallows!
1 juv Arctic Skua (harrying the Sandwich Terns), 3 Wheatear (2 fem 1 juv), 15-20 Little Tern, 600+ Sandwich Tern and 3 Whimbrel - Hilbre.

August 8:
1,050 Sandwich Tern, 400 Common Tern, 56 Little Tern, 651 Common Gull, 3,500 Black-headed Gull, 300 Dunlin, 197 Knot and 3,000 Oystercatcher - West Kirby Shore at high tide.
1,400 Oystercatcher - Hoylake Shore at high tide.
2 Arctic Skua, 5 Arctic Tern, 2 Gannet and 10 Common Scoter - Red Rocks at high tide.
1 Spotted Flycatcher in trees by car park, Banks Road - Heswall.
1 Black Tern - Hilbre.

August 7:
21 Black-tailed Godwit, 4 Common Sandpiper, 1 Green Sandpiper and 1 Greenshank - Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby, 1 Greenshank by the River Birket.

1 Marsh Harrier (juv fem), 6 Green Sandpiper, 4 Ruff and 2 Water Rail - Inner Marsh Farm, this evening.

August 6:
1 Garganey (juv), 5 Teal, at least 12 Willow Warbler, 3 Common Whitethroat, 1 Lesser Whitethroat Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby,  plus the field opposite held 1 Shoveler, 2 Teal and a flock of 60+ Swift. 
c.300 Swallow and c.100 House Martin on roof tops in Paton Close, West Kirby (near Gilroy NP).
2 Greenshank, 2 Common Sandpiper and 6 Whimbrel - Heswall Shore.
1 Spotted Redshank and 4 Ruff - Inner Marsh Farm.
1 Merlin over fields - Moreton, this morning.
1 Marsh Harrier off Gayton, Heswall Marsh.
1 pure white Swift seen in Two Mills area.

July 23:
1 Quail heard calling several times from Heswall Golf course just north of Old Batch car park, Parkgate.
Very good view of a hunting Barn Owl during this evening's 'On search of the silent hunter' event at Parkgate.

July 22:
20 Common Scoter and 12+ Gannet off shore, 26 Sanderling, 250 Dunlin and 250 Sandwich Tern on the beach - Gronant, Little Terns still doing well with plenty of fledged young on the beach.
110 Black-tailed Godwit (1 colour-ringed), 80 Lapwing, 1 Ruff (male) and 1 Green Sandpiper - Inner Marsh Farm.

July 20:
629 Sandwich Tern, 1 Mediterranean Gull (ad) and c2,000 Black-headed Gull - West Kirby Marine Lake.
1 Peregrine, 1 Mediterranean Gull (ad), 2 Whimbrel, 18 Little Egret and 144 Carrion Crow - Heswall Shore.
28 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Ruff, 4 Teal, 2 Shoveler and 5 Whimbrel - Gilroy NP/Hoylake Langfields.

July 17:
595 Sandwich Tern incl c15% juvs this afternoon, also c20 Common Tern - West Kirby Marine Lake.
1 Red-breasted Merganser, 35 Black-tailed Godwit and 250 Knot - Heswall Shore this morning but no sign of the Terek Sandpiper.
7 Common Tern, 4 Kittiwake and 11 ad Little Gull flying out of the R Mersey at New Brighton late afternoon.

July 16:
1 Mediterranean Gull (ad) - New Brighton.
4 Mediterranean Gull and c300 Sandwich Tern - West Kirby Marine Lake.

July 15:
Terek Sandpiper seen with Redshank on West Kirby Marine Lake mud at 2.20pm, then flew off towards Thurstaston, also 741 Sandwich Tern and 1 Mediterranean Gull.
Terek Sandpiper - Heswall Shore, seen first at 0530am near sewage outfall then moved north last seen with Redshank at 0715am off Thurstaston, then seen briefly at 4.45pm off Heswall.
166 Common Scoter, 78 Gannet and 26 Manx Shearwater offshore, 58 Sandwich Tern on the beach and 1 Grasshopper Warbler in the marsh - Gronant, also 6 Dolphins swimming below a large flock of diving Gannets!
3 Yellow Wagtail (a pair and a 'Channel' type) - Hoylake Langfields.

July 14:
Terek Sandpiper at Heswall off Target Road, last seen at 3.45pm but no sign since, good description received.
1 Greenshank, 200 Redshank including 1 leucistic bird, 18 Little Egret, 2 Peregrine Falcon, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 2 Peregrine, 210 Carrion Crow and 13 Mistle Thrush - Heswall Shore and nearby fields.

July 13:
1 Kingfisher and 17 Black-tailed Godwit - Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby.
1 Wheatear (juv) - West Kirby saltmarsh.
