June 30:
1 Kingfisher (male) on rocks by West Kirby Marine Lake at 1030am.
2 Avocet and 20 Juv Little Egret - Inner Marsh Farm.
8 Stonechat (4 pair) - Leasowe Lighthouse/Meols.

June 28:
1 Mediterranean Gull (ad) and 25 Ringed Plover in empty New Brighton Marine Lake, 1 Hobby over the 'pitch 'n' put' and 3 distant Bar-tailed Godwit (sum/pl).
4 Spotted Redshank (sum/pl), 1 Ruff and 105 Black Tailed Godwit - Inner Marsh Farm.

June 26:
1 Turtle Dove - West Kirby Tip at 4.15pm, seen with 2 Collared Doves on ground then flew towards trees east side of tip.
4 Mediterranean Gull, 450 Black-headed Gull (inc 1 leucistic bird) and 12 Little Egret -  Heswall Shore.
1 Hobby over horse paddocks, 2 Gannet out to sea - Leasowe Lighthouse.

June 25:
1 Greenshank (sum/pl) and 4 Spotted Redshank - Inner Marsh Farm.

June 24:
5 Mediterranean Gulls (3 ad, 1 2nd summer, 1 1st summer), 550 Black-headed gulls, 2 Raven, 16 Little Egret  -  Heswall Shore before high tide.
1 Greenshank (sum/pl), 4 Spotted Redshank, 130 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Ruff and 50 Teal - Inner Marsh Farm.

June 23:
3 Manx Shearwater, 48 Common Scoter (four small flocks) and 5 Gannet - Gronant before high tide.
2 adult Mediterranean Gull, 575 Black-headed Gull (1 leucistic bird with pale brown head, cream white wing feathers including primaries), 1 Common Gull, 520 Curlew, 140 Redshank, 330 Oystercatcher, 9 Little Egret, 1 Little Owl heard  -  Heswall Shore at high tide.

June 22:
2 adult Mediterranean Gull, 400 Black-headed Gull, 530 Curlew, 95 Redshank, 110 Oystercatcher, 6 Little Egret - Heswall Shore at high tide.

June 20:

1 Wheatear - Burton Marsh, by Old Quay.

1 Spotted Flycatcher - Newton, Caldy end of Grange Cross Lane.
15 Common Scoter flew west, Little Terns doing well - Gronant.

June 15:
15 Gannet, 1 Fulmar, 3 Manx Shearwater, 20+ Sandwich Tern, 20+ Common Tern, 4 Little Tern and 5 Kittiwake off Red Rocks before high tide.

June 13:
60 Dunlin (most in sum/pl) and 4 Sandwich Tern off Leasowe Lighthouse, 1 Reed Warbler and 3 Sedge Warbler in the reeds.

June 12:
241 Carrion Crow on the sand banks at Heswall Shore as tide came in.
1 Wood Warbler and 1 Lesser Whitethroat - Inner Marsh Farm.
1 Red Kite over Airbus at Broughton, 4.15pm.

June 11:
3 Gannet and c20 Common Tern off Red Rocks at high tide.
2 Little Ringed Plover - Shotton Pools NR.
1 Eider (drake) off Little Eye.
2 Arctic Skua - Hilbre.
1 Spotted Flycatcher - Inner Marsh Farm.

June 9:
c200 Little Tern at Gronant, 2 Gannet out to sea.

June 8:

June 7:
32 Little Egret and 192 Carrion Crow - Heswall Shore this morning.
At least 40 House Martin flying over field next to Carr Farm Garden Centre, Moreton, this afternoon.
11 Grey Heron on the sand bank off Meols at high tide this evening.

June 6:
1 Hobby flew east over West Kirby.
1 Hobby at Little Neston this morning, then flew towards Burton.

June 4:

1 Common Crossbill flew SE over Visitor Centre, Thurstaston, this morning.
1 Cuckoo flew over pond this evening - Leasowe Lighthouse.

June 2:
600-700 large waders flew north out of estuary in long line, most likely non-breeding Black-tailed Godwits.
c200 Little Tern, 38 Sandwich Tern and 6 Gannet - Gronant before high tide.
2 Siskin (pair) feeding on garden feeder - Meols this evening.

June 1:
1 Cuckoo - Wepre Country Park.
17 Gannet (distant), 20 Common Scoter and 11 Great Crested Grebe - Leasowe Lighthouse.

May 31:
1 Spotted Flycatcher and 2 Reed Warbler - Leasowe Lighthouse area, 15 Great Crested Grebe flew west and 33 Common Scoter flew east at high tide.

May 30:
575 Gannet, 7 Fulmar, 1 Arctic Skua and 33 Manx Shearwater - also a massive 670 Grey Seals  - highlights from Hilbre, for more details see

1 Bluethroat (fem) by the duck pond at Leasowe Lighthouse, also 2 Spotted Flycatcher.

May 23:
1 Lesser Spotted Woodpecker and 2 Lesser Whitethroat reported from Red Rocks.

May 22:
1 Yellow Wagtail, 3 Wheatear, 400+ Knot (many in full breeding plumage) and 67 Grey Plover (many in full breeding plumage) - Leasowe Lighthouse this morning.
1 Lapland Bunting (male in breeding plumage), 1 Turtle Dove and 3 Tree Pipit - Red Rocks Marsh early morning.

May 21:
2+ Whinchat, 4 Wheatear and 1 Red Kite - Leasowe Lighthouse this morning.
1 Black Kite flew SW 9.45am - Connah's Quay Reserve.
1 Cuckoo flew over Sacred Heart School this afternoon - Moreton.
1 Osprey over M53 this evening at clatterbridge.

May 20:
1 Ruff (male in breeding plumage), 1 Cuckoo, 1 Avocet and 141 Black-tailed Godwit - Inner Marsh Farm.
4 Whimbrel and 2 Raven, 228 Carrion Crow on the sandbanks - Heswall Shore.

May 19:
1 Spotted Flycatcher, 7 Wheatear and 1 Whimbrel - Leasowe Lighthouse this morning.
c500 Common Tern at their Shotton breeding colony this morning.
1 Ruff (male) - Inner Marsh Farm.

May 18:
1 Cuckoo and 1 Redstart (male) - Hilbre.
1 fem Marsh Harrier - Inner Marsh Farm.
1 Grasshopper Warbler - Neston Reedbed.

May 17:
1 fem Marsh Harrier ,  2 Avocet, 10 Dunlin, 1 Little Ringed Plover, 4 Yellow Wagtail (3 male) and 1 Kingfisher- Inner Marsh Farm.

May 16:
1 Avocet, 2 Yellow Wagtail and 106 Black-tailed Godwit - Inner Marsh Farm.

May 15:
1 Cuckoo (fem) behaving as though it was trying to find somewhere to lay an egg, also 1 Whimbrel - Leasowe Lighthouse this morning.
4 Whimbrel and 1 Raven, 153 Crows on the mudflats - Heswall Shore before high tide.
3 Whimbrel - Hilbre.
At least 118 Little Tern at Gronant, also 1 Little Stint but elusive.
1 Wood Sandpiper, 1 Curlew Sandpiper and 1 Peregrine - Inner Marsh Farm.

May 14:
2 Curlew Sandpiper still at Inner Marsh Farm RSPB, 4 Yellow Wagtail this evening.

May 13:
2 Curlew Sandpiper seen from hide, also 1 Osprey and 25 Sedge Warbler - Inner Marsh Farm RSPB.
60+ Gannet, 14 Sandwich Tern and 18 Great Crested Grebe off Leasowe Lighthouse this morning.

May 12:
53 Gannet, 26 Sandwich Tern, 1 Whimbrel, 1 Whinchat, 6 Wheatear, 1 Grasshopper Warbler and Lesser Whitethroat - Leasowe Lighthouse area.
6 Whimbrel and 160 Crow on the shore, also 1 colour ringed Knot - Heswall/Thurstaston Shore.
2 Siskin coming to  a garden feeder - Heswall.

May 11:
1 Osprey (came from Prestatyn direction at 09:50, when due north of Hilbre it turned NE and headed towards Formby Point), 1 Whinchat (male on Middle at 06:45), 4 Red-throated Diver, 26 Manx Shearwater (early morning), 34 Gannet, 60 Sandwich Tern, 25 Common Tern, 1 Eider (male), 21 Common Scoter, 18 Whimbrel, 14 Common Guillemot and 1 Peregrine - Hilbre over high tide.
20 Wheatear, 1 Lesser Whitethroat and 1 Cuckoo - Leasowe Lighthouse area.
230 Knot and 30 Sanderling, many in summer plumage - Wallasey Shore, this evening.

May 10:
10 Yellow Wagtail, 1 Avocet and 150 Black-tailed Godwit - Inner Marsh Farm.
3 Little Gull (flying towards Crosby), 63 Gannet, 15 Common Scoter, 7 Great Crested Grebe and 1 Whimbrel off Leasowe Lighthouse.
1 Cuckoo (flew inland over golf course) and 2 Yellow Wagtail (1 on beach, 1 over) - Red Rocks early morning.
8 Sandwich Tern, 12 Whimbrel, 1 Tree Pipit (over) and 2 Wheatear - Heswall Shore over high tide.
Large numbers of Swifts passing through the area late afternoon.

May 9:
2 Whimbrel and 4 Little Tern - Wallasey Shore, 6am, 23 Sanderling in summer plumage this evening.
15 Whimbrel, 450+ Dunlin, up to 150 Ringed Plover, 1 Golden Plover in breeding plumage and 5 Eider - highlights from Hilbre, for more details see

May 8:
14 Gannet and 2 Arctic Skua (harassing the gannets), 3 Whimbrel - Leasowe Lighthouse, 1 Wheatear in field, loads of Blackcap, Whitethroat & Sedge Warbler singing.
115 Grey Plover (sum plumage), 7 Whimbrel, 85 Knot, 500 Dunlin, 3 Bar-tailed Godwit, 75 Curlew and 6 Little Egret - Heswall Fields NT, also 3 Lesser Whitethroat

May 7:
1 probable Marsh Harrier and 2 Grasshopper Warbler - Neston Reedbed.

May 6:
1 Whinchat and 5 Wheatear in the fields, 2 Whimbrel and 48 Sandwich Tern on the beach - Leasowe Lighthouse area.
50 Swift screaming overhead at the north end of Stapledon Wood, Caldy 1130hrs.
9 Whimbrel and 1 Wheatear - Thurstaston Shore.

May 4:
1 Whimbrel and 7 Wheatear - Leasowe Lighthouse area.
1 Garden Warbler (singing) and 2 Grey Partridge - Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby.
1 Crane heard calling but not seen - Heswall Fields NT, several other reports across the country today.

May 3:
3 Whinchat - Park Lane, Meols/Moreton.
1 Peregrine, 8 Little Egret and 76 Whimbrel - Heswall Shore.
1 Yellow Wagtail near RAF Sealand, also 3 Wheatear (2 Greenland) nearby.
1 Eider (male) off Leasowe Lighthouse this evening.
3 Grasshopper Warbler reeling - Neston Reedbed.

May 2:
1 Whinchat and 7 Wheatear, in horse paddocks - Leasowe Lighthouse area.
