April 30 1 Great Grey Shrike - in fields to the east of Leasowe Lighthouse, near River Birket, still there at 2pm, also good view of 1 Whinchat (male).
1 Subalpine Warbler ringed by the Observatory and released at 9am - Hilbre Island, second record for Hilbre and fourth for Cheshire/Wirral. Seen well but briefly again at 1.30pm, birders can cross over to Hilbre after 4pm when tide starts to go out, seen again at 7pm.
5 Little Tern - Gronant.
2 Avocet, 1 Ruddy Shelduck, 250 Black-tailed Godwit and 2 Spotted Redshank -
Inner Marsh Farm.
April 29 1 Wood Warbler - Stapledon Wood, Caldy, about 400 yards from north end in small grove of Oak trees, still there at 1.15pm, also 3 Siskin.
15+ Swift over West Kirby.
1 Cuckoo, 1 Whinchat and 1 Grasshopper Warbler - North Wirral Coastal Park.
5 Scaup, 20 Gannet, 1 Red-throated Diver and 1 Fulmar - Hoylake Shore.
April 28 HIDE AT INNER MARSH FARM NOW OPEN.

2 Avocet, 1 Jack Snipe, 90 Knot, 8 Spotted Redshank and 1,400 Black-tailed Godwit - Inner Marsh Farm.
1 Redstart (f), 5 Wheatear (Greenland) and 2 Whitethroat -
Red Rocks, 3 Yellow Wagtail on the golf course.
1 Serin flew round island then flew off NE at 3.30pm - Hilbre Island.
1 Hobby over horse paddocks south of
Leasowe Lighthouse.

April 27 1 Wryneck reported flying from junction of Mill Lane, Ness/ A540 towards Willaston, 8am.
1 Grasshopper Warbler in gorse near Leasowe Lighthouse, also Whinchat (f) and 12 Wheatear nearby.
2 Common Buzzard over Greasby.
April 26 1 Eider (f), 3 Shag, 1 Arctic Skua, 1 Arctic Tern, 113 Razorbill, 39 Guillemot, 300 Sandwich Tern, 100 Common Tern and 1 Common Sandpiper  - Hilbre Island.
1 Whimbrel - Heswall Shore.

1 Long-eared Owl in tree near Leasowe Lighthouse.
April 25 14 Gannet, 20 Sandwich Tern and 2 Peregrine an hour before high tide at Red Rocks.
1 Eider (f), 1 Fulmar, 16 Kittiwake, 6 Red-throated Diver, 350 Gannet, 250 Sandwich Tern, 100 Common Tern, 300 Razorbill, 200 Guillemot and 140 Manx Shearwater - Hilbre Island, most of the sea birds came through just after high tide - an amazing sight!
2 Little Tern, 37 Sandwich Tern, 23 White Wagtail and 1 Common Sandpiper - Gronant.
1 Peregrine, 2 Wheatear, 3 Whimbrel, 1 Grasshopper Warbler and 6 Whitethroat - Heswall Shore/Fields.
April 24 1 Alpine Swift, Carr Lane, Moreton, please DO NOT enter the brick works or block their entrance - seen this afternoon.

1 Short-eared Owl by Shore Road, Caldy.
4 Peregrine (looked like 2 pairs with some nice interaction between them!), 1 Great Skua, 1 Shag, c30 Brent Geese and 9 Purple Sandpiper - Hilbre Island, also 1 bottle-nosed dolphin.

March 30 1 Spotted Crake (very close views but difficult to see in a clump of reeds), 2 Water Rail, 1 Peregrine, and 2 Short-eared Owl - Parkgate Marsh at high tide, a very high tide blown in by a strong SW wind, 6 harvest mice seen which are very rare in Cheshire, 8 Water Pipit in field behind car park.
5 Mandarin, 1 Wood Duck and 1 Red-legged Partridge in my garden next to Stapledon Wood this afternoon!

7 Purple Sandpiper and 50+ Turnstone on breakwater by lifeguard station - Wallasey Shore.
March 29 1 Spotted Crake (good close views of it swimming and walking on clump of reed), 1 Spotted Redshank, 23 Red-breasted Merganser, 1 Swallow, 2 Water Rail, 1 Peregrine, 1 Merlin, 5 Short-eared Owl, 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) and 70 Pink-footed Geese - Parkgate Marsh at high tide, tide came all the way in on flat calm day.

The cold weather is keeping the migrants back, by this time over the past three years we had already seen our first Wheatear, Sand Martin and White Wagtail.

Over 60 Goldcrest busy feeding along Lang Lane, West Kirby, also 20+ Caldy Hill, seems to have been an influx over past 2 days.

March 3 2 Short-eared Owl off marsh by Gayton Cottage, Heswall.
2 Siskin, 1 Green Woodpecker and 153 Pink-footed Geese - Inner Marsh Farm.
1 Marsh Harrier on gate post by Decca Pools, also 6 Ruff and 14 Snipe - Burton Marsh.
2 Short-eared Owl and 2 Hen Harrier (ringtail) - Parkgate Marsh over high tide, the Little Owl was in the usual place at the back of the car park.
1 Short-eared Owl flew over Red Rocks at high tide.
March 2 4 Short-eared Owl, 4 Jack Snipe, 1 Peregrine, 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail), 2 Merlin, 8 Water Rail and 1 Rock Pipit - Parkgate Marsh over high tide, tide came right in - it has been a couple of very good days!
2 Short-eared Owl, 1 Peregrine, 1 Merlin, 80 Brent Geese, 7 Red-breasted Merganser, 1 Spotted Redshank and 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) - Heswall Marsh, Riverbank Road, 8 Water Rail came out of the marsh by Target Road as the tide came in.
5 Short-eared Owl in hedge and bracken in field close to Heswall Golf club, soon after high tide.
March 1 7 Short-eared Owl (1 sitting in a hedge by golf course), 2 Goosander (f), 1 Peregrine, 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail), 4 Spotted Redshank, c12 Water Rail, c10 Jack Snipe, 1 Water Pipit (poss.) and 2 Grey Partridge - Parkgate Marsh over high tide, tide came right in and could well be higher tomorrow.
2 Spotted Redshank and 150 Pink-footed Geese - Inner Marsh Farm and nearby fields.
4-5 Short-eared Owl, 2 Raven, 1 Peregrine, 2 Merlin and 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) - Heswall Marsh, Riverbank Road.
