1 Pallas's Warbler by sewage works, Target Road, Heswall, reported at 1640hrs, 3 Blackcap and 3 Chiffchaff there earlier.
8,900 Pink-footed Geese - total for Burton Marsh and Parkgate, an estuary record smashing the previous record of 6,200 set in January 2015.
1 Slavonian Grebe off Leasowe Lighthouse at 3pm.
5 Stonechat in Leasowe Castle/Leasowe Bay area.
1 Water Pipit near sewage works, 1 Short-eared Owl on marsh - Neston Old Quay.
1 Brent goose and 3 Red-throated Diver on the sea - New Brighton late afternoon.
1 Greenshank, 97 Golden Plover and 3,000 Knot - Heswall Shore.
20 Avocet, 2 Ruff, 1 Marsh Harrier and 1 Merlin; 1 Barn Owl and 1 Short-eared Owl were flying round together by Marsh Covert hide late afternoon for about half an hour - Burton Mere Wetlands.

Feb 27
2 Surf Scoter (drake) and 2 Velvet Scoter east of Harrison Drive, Wallasey Shore this afternoon.
3 Scaup on sea and 4 Raven over - Hilbre this morning.
66 Common Snipe, c300 Pink-footed Geese flew north over Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby.
250 Pink-footed Geese feeding close to promenade and 2 Great White Egret (one close in and the other far out) - Parkgate.
1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Hen Harrier, 1 Short-eared Owl and 14 Avocet - Burton Mere Wetlands.

Feb 26
2 Great White Egret (one off Bevyl Road and the other off the Old Quay pub) and 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) - Parkgate.
574 Great Crested Grebe and 12 Red-throated Diver, still huge number of Comon Scoter but visibilty not as good as yesterday - Hoylake.
2 Merlin, at lest 2 Hen Harrier and 1 Short-eared Owl - Decca Pools, the merlins and one of the Hen Harriers had a spectacular dog-fight.

Feb 25
2 Scaup - Hilbre.
1,210 Dunlin, 200 Redshank, 100 Knot and 80 Turnstone - West Kirby Marine Lake.
30-40,000 Common Scoter along north Wirral with many close to shore towards New Brighton.
1 probable Surf Scoter (drake), 2+ Velvet Scoter and 2 Slavonian Grebe off Derby Pool, Wallasey Shore.
749 Great Crested Grebe, 26 Goldeneye, 2 Red-breasted Merganser and 1 Eider - Hoylake Shore at high tide.
2 Great White Egret - Parkgate.
90+ Twite - Connah's Quay Nature Reserve. this afternoon.
1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Hen Harrier, 4,000 Pink-footed Geese and 1 Barnacle Goose - White Sands (Outer Burton Marsh). 
1 Short-eared Owl showing well from Harp Inn, Neston Marsh.

Feb 24
1 Short-eared Owl putting on a great show at Denhall Quay this afternoon.
9 Avocet, 1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Water Rail and 1 Whooper Swan - Burton Mere Wetlands.
12 Purple Sandpiper and 1 Mediterranean Gull over - New Brighton.
1 Velvet Scoter and 3 Scaup among large numbers of Common Scoters - Meols Shore, see Leasowe Blog for more details.

Feb 23
1 Eider (drake) flying west this morning - Hoylake Shore.
47 Common Snipe and 370 Lapwing - Gilroy flooded field, West Kirby.
1 Water Rail calling and 1 Great White Egret - Parkgate.
1 Merlin caught a Jack Snipe over high tide - West Kirby Marsh.
3 Short-eared Owl and 1 Hen Harrier - Denhall Quay this afternoon.
3 Purple Sandpiper, 120 Brent Geese, 2 Scaup (female), 1 Red-throated Diver and 2 Rock Pipit - Hilbre.

Feb 22
6 Water Pipit in the fresh water margins of the marsh between Parkgate and the Harp Inn (Denhall Quay), also 4 Rock Pipit.
2 Hen Harrier. 1 Marsh Harrier and 1 Great White Egret - Neston Marsh with 32 Redwing (included 1 Icelandic race Redwing), 10 Grey Wagtail and 2 Chiffchaff inland, photos of the Icelandic Redwing can be seen on Lighthouse and Wirral Blog.
1 Short-eared Owl - Denhall Quay.
55 Common Snipe - Gilroy flooded field, West Kirby.
1 Common Scoter flew north past Connah's Quay Nature Reserve.
1 Marsh Harrier (imm male) was unsuccesfully trying to catch waterfowl, 1 Great White Egret out on the marsh and 1 Water Rail heard - Parkgate.

Feb 21
1 Spoonbill flew past Riverbank Road, Heswall, this morning.
1 Slavonian Grebe (also present yesterday) and 3 Scaup on the river channel - Connah's Quay Nature Reserve.
1 Marsh Harrier at Decca Pools, Burton Marsh later seen at Parkgate, 1 Peregrine was trying to catch ducks at Decca Pools which successfully escaped by diving under the water, also 1 Merlin flew alonge hedge by Nets Cafe.
1 Hen Harrier (ringtail), 1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Merlin and 1 Peregrine - Burton Mere Wetlands.
2 Short-eared Owl - Neston Old Quay.

36 Pink-footed Geese, 2 Peregrine, 1 Merlin, 61 Grey Plover, 97 Golden Plover, 330 Redshank, 1 Greenshank, 210 Bar-tailed Godwit, also 56 Pied Wagtail at sewage works - Heswall Shore over high tide.
1 Merlin, 1 Peregrine, 1 Barn Owl, 1 Short-eared Owl, 2 Avocet, 2 Ruff (fem & male), 1 Water Rail and 1 Kingfisher - Burton Mere Wetlands.

30,000+ Common Scoter on sea about six miles out - Hoylake Shore.

Feb 16
1 Goosander (drake) flew down west side of Hilbre this morning.
11,000 Knot - Caldy/Thurstaston Shore, also 20 Black-tailed Godwit starting to turn in to summer plumage.
60 Golden Plover north over West Kirby late afternoon.
1 Great White Egret and 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) - Parkgate.

Feb 15
1 Glaucous Gull on shore opposite old lifeboat station this morning - Hoylake Shore, and east of new lifeboat station late afternoon.
8,000 Knot - Caldy shore at low tide.
1 Chiffchaff - Burton Point.
3 Goldeneye on border pool - Burton Mere Wetlands.

Feb 14
2 Green Sandpiper by stream - Neston Old Quay this morning.
1 Velvet Scoter in amongst a raft of Great Crested Grebes at high tide - Dove Point, Meols.
1 Water Pipit and 1 Great White Egret - Neston Old Quay.
1 Great White Egret - Parkgate.
1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) and 1 Great White Egret - Burton Marsh.
1 Jack Snipe (marsh covert hide), 1 Water Rail, 1 Barn Owl and 1 male Bullfinch - Burton Mere Wetlands this afternoon.

Feb 13
15 Whooper Swan and 12 Goldeneye on the sea, 3,800 Knot, 1,800 Dunlin, 290 Sanderling and 110 Grey Plover in the roost - Hoylake Shore over high tide, most of the waders were still present at 4pm plus 2 Whooper Swans on the shore.
1 Hen Harrier and 1 Short-eared Owl - Burton Marsh.
2 Spotted Redshank - Burton Mere Wetlands.
4 Spotted Redshank and 30 Twite - Connah's Quay Reserve.
1 Scaup (drake) off Dove Point, Meols.

Feb 12
1 Avocet - first of the year - Burton Mere Wetlands.
1 Whooper Swan flew in off the sea and over, 1 Eider (drake) and still lots of Common Scoters flying around in mainly small flocks on the horizon, 270 Sanderling and 1,500 Dunlin in wader roost - Hoylake Shore over high tide.
1 Greenshank on Meols Shore before high tide.
12 Siskin on feeder in Irby garden.
2 Short-eared Owl flew high over sand dunes - West Kirby.
50+ Twite, 1 Greenshank and 1 Kingfisher - Connah's Quay Reserve.
2 Short-eared Owl and 1 Merlin (fem) - Riverbank Road, Heswall.
2 Great White Egret - Parkgate.
c200 Brent Geese, 8 Whooper Swan on the sea (it was one of these seen at Hoylake), 9 Goldeneye, 2 Red-throated Diver and 40 Great Crested Grebe highlights from Hilbre.

Feb 11
36,000 Common Scoter flew west with many more on the sea, also 5 Velvet Scoter - Hoylake before high tide, see

1 Surf Scoter (male) off Derby Pool, Wallasey shore at high tide, watched for 45 minutes in very good light.

1 Jack Snipe flushed by tide and 1 Short-eared Owl - West Kirby Marsh.
1 Great White Egret and 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) - Parkgate.
1 Great Northern Diver and c500 Dunlin on the rocks - West Kirby Marine Lake.
1 Hen Harrier and 70+ Twite - Connah's Quay Reserve.
1 Water Pipit in field by filter beds - Neston Old Quay.

Feb 9
5 Short-eared Owl, 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail), and 1 Merlin - Riverbank Road, Heswall over high tide, also 1 Water Pipit off Merine Drive.
11 Purple Sandpiper, 1 Greenshank, 340 Turnstone, 280 Redshank and 150 Dunlin on the pontoon at New Brighton Marine Lake at high tide.
1 Barn Owl being mobbed by Magpies and 1 Kingfisher - Burton Mere Wetlands, late afternoon.

Feb 8
6 Short-eared Owl, 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail), 1 Peregrine, 1 Merlin and 290 Pink-footed Geese with a further c2,000 Pink-footed Geese off Parkgate and Neston - Riverbank Road, Heswall over high tide.
1 Great White Egret and 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) - Parkgate.

7 Spotted Redshank - Connah's Quay Reserve.
8 Siskin coming to garden feeder - Irby.
2 Water Pipit - Neston Old Quay.

1 probable Willow Tit, 2 Kingfisher, 1 Merlin, 6 Goldeneye, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 16 Siskin, 4 Brambling and 2 Lesser Redpoll - Shotton Pools Nature Reserve (Permit only).
40 Twite - Connah's Quay Reserve.

1 Little Gull (1st winter) and 1 hooded/carrion crow hybrid (but probably only 1/4 hooded) on beach - New Brighton.
1 White-fronted Geese with pink-footed geese - Burton Marsh.

1 Short-eared Owl flew from Hilbre in the morning, later flushed from Middle Eye in the afternoon and presumably the same one in dunes at Red Rocks a few mintutes later.
