Directions: Approach Wallasey shore (west end of New Brighton promenade) from exit 1 of the M53 following signs to New Brighton. When you reach the sea front turn left for the Lifeguard Station where there is parking and a good spot for sea watching (1). Turn back along the promenade to reach New Brighton, there is parking all along here. Note the large grassy areas to the right of the road, called the 'dips' and is usually full of various species of gulls. As you reach New Brighton there is a large car park to the right in front of various stores including Morrisons. You can walk to the Marine Lake from here (2) with good views of the wader roost on the pontoon, there are  plenty of Cafes and Restaurants in this area. Anywhere along the sea front here is good for sea watching with some shelter from gales and a good view of the River Mersey at the shelter adjacent to the road (3). There are good train services from Liverpool and Birkenhead to New Brighton with the station a short walk to the Marine Lake. Map Ref: New Brighton Marine Lake SJ 309943
