Directions:From Point of Ayr/Talacre continue on the A548 towards Prestatyn. At the Gronant crossroads turn right along Shore Road sign posted Lower Gronant and Presthaven. Half a mile along this road is a car park on the left. From here walk over the railway bridge and at the end of the road is the entrance to Gronant Sand Dunes Local Nature Reserve. Take the footpath over the river as far as the lagoon. From here skirt round the lagoon to the left then across the sand dunes towards the sea. Walks both through the dunes and along the beach should be fruitful for birding. In summer PLEASE keep a good distance from the fence around the Little Tern colony . Big Pool Wood is located just behind the Bridlewood Riding Centre. Maes-y-Coes Farm, Ty'n-y-Morfa, Nr. Prestatyn, Flintshire, North Wales, CH8 9JN. Parking is on the grass verge at 53.343800, -3.349631. Please do not block any gates or use the driveway to the Riding Centre when parking. To get to Big Pool Wood hide, walk down the driveway to the Riding Centre, go through the gate and walk straight ahead about 50 metres to another gate. Once through the gate, take the wooden walkway to the left and you'll find the bird hide 53.345521, -3.350757. The nearest railway stations are at Flint and Prestatyn with a bus service between.
